About

I’m a writer based in somewhere in North America where it’s still cold at the time of posting.

My favourite authors in no particular order are Douglas Adams, Aldous Huxley, George Orwell, John Fowles, Oscar Wilde, Kurt Vonnegut, AC Doyle, Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Hesse, the Bronte Sisters, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman and PD James. I also read a lot of non-fiction – mostly history and science, along with the odd travel book. I’m also into conspiracy theories, which admittedly fall right in-between. As a child I grew up reading mostly fantasy, especially Mary Stewart, Enid Blyton, All the Wizard of Oz books, the Chronicles of Narnia and Roald Dahl. I’ve read lots of thrillers and horror too, though these days very little scares me.

I also watch an insane number of movies – everything from the Golden-era Classics to b-movie ‘trash cinema’.

Lately I’ve been trying to read more modern fiction. Currently I’m reading Life of Pi, Cloud Atlas and just picked up a copy of The Night Circus. I’m also working my way through a collection of Steampunk short stories called Corsets and Clockwork.
